Moroccan Spiced Coffee Recipe

Posted on November 11, 2016

This popular Moroccan spiced coffee recipe is defined as a fragrant blend of dark coffee and warm spices, and can be made at your very own home.  Completely different than your average, traditional cup of coffee, it feels exotic and rather luxurious. Use the recipe below to create the perfect cuppa Moroccan spiced coffee at home.

Ingredients:

  • 1/2 cup of whole coffee beans OR 6 tablespoons freshly ground coffee
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1/4 teaspoon ground ginger
  • 1/4 teaspoon ground cardamom
  • 1/4 teaspoon kosher salt
  • 1/8 teaspoon ground clove
  • 1/8 teaspoon ground black pepper
  • 1/8 teaspoon freshly grated nutmeg
  • 4 cups water Cream and sugar (optional)

Instructions for making Moroccan spiced coffee

In the case of using whole beans:

Simply place your selection of Coffee Capsules Direct coffee beans in a grinder, add the spices and proceed to grind on the coarsest setting. Grind the mixture until you reach a rough texture that’s similar to breadcrumbs. Then, pour the spiced mixture into the bottom of a French press, or brew the spiced coffee using the brewing method of your choice i.e. an automatic drip pot.

In the case of using ground coffee:

In a small bowl, stir together the spices and your choice of coffee grounds from Coffee Capsules Direct. Pour the spiced mixture into the bottom of a French press or into your coffee machine. Alternatively, heat the water to around 100 degrees celcius in a stove-top or electric kettle, then let it rest for around 1 minute. Once the water is ready, pour about half of the water over the coffee and let it sit for 30 seconds. Then, by using a spoon, gently stir the mixture and add the rest of the water. If you’re using the French press, place the lid on and leave the plunger all the way up, then let it brew for 3 minutes. Once ready, pour the Moroccan spiced coffee into cups. Serve it black, or with sugar and cream as according to taste. Enjoy!
