This is the man who wanted to ban coffee

Posted on November 5, 2019

Did you know this Coffee Fact?

A very paranoid King Charles II of England tried to ban coffee houses in 1675, basically the first coffee shops around. He feared that people were gathering at the coffee houses to conspire and form plots against him. His paranoia was so bad that it was also to be forbidden for people to sell coffee, chocolate and tea from their houses! Dark times, right? Thankfully, the outcry of the public and pressure from his own ministers prevented such a travesty from happening. King Charles II will forever be on the dark side of English coffee history!
